On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, expatriate Bangladeshi entrepreneur Kapil Uddin has called for the national practice of paying homage to language martyrs to be further expanded. He urged the countrymen to pay their respects at the Shaheed Minar as well as to visit the graveyards of language martyrs to offer prayers and tributes.
In a statement on Sunday, KKR Move On Group Chairman Kapil Uddin welcomed the continuation of the national leadership and people from all walks of life paying homage to the Shaheed Minar. He said that while the Shaheed Minar is an unforgettable symbol of the language movement, the graves of language martyrs bear witness to the human and real history of their sacrifice.
According to Kapil Uddin, if grave visits are encouraged, the new generation will be able to create a deeper emotional connection with the history of the language movement. In this, history will not be limited to mere formalities, but will become a matter of experience.
He said, “This is not a matter of changing traditions; rather, it is an initiative to deepen memory. When people stand next to the graves of martyrs, history becomes real.”
He further said that if such messages are encouraged nationally, a meaningful complementary tradition can be developed alongside the Shaheed Minar, which will further strengthen the spirit of the language movement.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষে ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানানোর জাতীয় চর্চাকে আরও বিস্তৃত করার আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশি উদ্যোক্তা কাপিল উদ্দিন। তিনি শহীদ মিনারে ফুল দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি ভাষা শহীদদের কবরস্থানে গিয়ে দোয়া ও শ্রদ্ধা জানানোর জন্য দেশবাসীর প্রতি আহ্বান জানান।
রোববার এক বিবৃতিতে KKR Move On Group-এর চেয়ারম্যান কাপিল উদ্দিন জাতীয় নেতৃত্ব ও সর্বস্তরের মানুষের শহীদ মিনারে শ্রদ্ধা জানানোর ধারাবাহিকতাকে স্বাগত জানান। তিনি বলেন, শহীদ মিনার ভাষা আন্দোলনের অবিস্মরণীয় প্রতীক হলেও ভাষা শহীদদের কবর তাঁদের আত্মত্যাগের মানবিক ও বাস্তব ইতিহাসের সাক্ষ্য বহন করে।
কাপিল উদ্দিনের মতে, কবর জিয়ারতকে উৎসাহিত করা হলে নতুন প্রজন্ম ভাষা আন্দোলনের ইতিহাসের সঙ্গে আরও গভীর আবেগিক সংযোগ তৈরি করতে পারবে। এতে ইতিহাস শুধু আনুষ্ঠানিকতায় সীমাবদ্ধ থাকবে না, বরং তা হয়ে উঠবে অনুভবের বিষয়।
তিনি বলেন, “এটি কোনো ঐতিহ্য পরিবর্তনের বিষয় নয়; বরং স্মৃতিকে আরও গভীর করার একটি উদ্যোগ। মানুষ যখন শহীদদের কবরের পাশে দাঁড়ায়, তখন ইতিহাস বাস্তব হয়ে ওঠে।”
তিনি আরও জানান, জাতীয়ভাবে এ ধরনের বার্তা উৎসাহিত করা হলে শহীদ মিনারের পাশাপাশি একটি অর্থবহ সম্পূরক ঐতিহ্য গড়ে উঠতে পারে, যা ভাষা আন্দোলনের চেতনাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করবে।
